MALARIA

Malaria is a threatened disease in Nigeria, it is caused by a plasmodium parasite

                       CAUSES

It is caused by a plasmodium parasite carried by a female anopheles mosquito (after biting an infected person)

                   PREVENTION

1 Adequate environmental sanitation

2 Use of insecticide treated net

3 Adequate drainage

4 Sleep under mosquito net

5 Prophylactic anti malaria

                      MANAGEMENT

Treatment with antimalarials such as

1 Artemether lumefaltrin

2 Amodiaquin

3 Amarlar

4 laridox

5 Chloroquine

6 Artesunate

Choose one of the above for treatment of malaria

Note there is a combination of two antimalarials based on their group

Since malaria come with symptoms, then treat the symptoms to prevent more complications

Symptoms that associated malaria and their treatment drugs

1 Pyrexial = pcm, diclofenac, etc

2 anaemia = folic acid, ferrious, iron dextral, other blood tonic etc,

3 vomiting = plasil, phenigal, etc

4 Rigor = antipyrectic such as pcm

5 Anorexia = multivitamin etc

Note the symptoms occasionally associated with typhoid, therefore, you need to pass through some clinical investigation, when it is detected treat with antibiotics, especially floroquinolone group of antibiotic.
